The Features On Tour

Wednesday
March 9, 2005

I received an e-mail from The Features letting me know about an upcoming mini-tour they have with Kings Of Leon. Unfortunately they're not hitting Florida, but they have shows in cities where some friends of mine live. I've done my best to spread the word to all I can, including college radio stations in all of the towns. If you live in any of the cities, GO SEE THIS SHOW. I saw The Features back in December 2002 and I've been hooked ever since. Now they're starting to get a push (my bro Matt tells me that they're getting airplay on 102-9 The Buzz in Nashville), and they got a really nice break getting to play on Jimmy Kimmel Live earlier this year. Anyway, here's the upcoming schedule:

The Features
The Features are an outstanding band.

The Features/Kings Of Leon
Wed. 3/9/2005 - Tulsa, OK - Cain's Ballroom
Fri. 3/11/2005 - Oklahoma City, OK- Bricktown Live
Sat. 3/12/2005 - Austin, TX - La Zona Rosa
Sun. 3/13/2005 - Dallas, TX- Gypsy Tea Room
Tue. 3/15/2005 - Houston, TX - Meridian
Thu. 3/17/2005 - New Orleans, LA - House of Blues
Fri. 3/18/2005 - Atlanta, GA - The Roxy
Sat. 3/19/2005 - Birmingham, AL - Workplay Theatre
Mon. 3/21/2005 - Louisville, KY - Headliners
Tue. 3/22/2005 - Cincinnati, OH - Bogart's

Do you know how bad I want to hop on a Southwest Airlines flight to New Orleans, catch the Thursday night show at the House of Blues, and then take part in a weekend of wild partying and debauchery? But alas, scheduling won't permit it. Another time, perhaps.

The problems that plagued this site last week seem to be fixed (knock on wood). Hackers of some sort put a worm on the server that would try and put malware on the computers of people who visited the site. It's not exactly the type of thing I want to have welcoming people to the site. After much bitching to ipowerweb's tech crew, they've solved the problem and all seems to be well now. If for some reason your computer is acting strange, download AdAware SE and run a system scan. It's free and should work fine. Worse comes to worse, load your computer in safe mode and run AdAware, and you should be okay. And, hopefully, this will be the last of that insanity.

The new season of Deadwood has started on HBO... and it looks like the show hasn't lost any of its great writing or acting. Al Swearengen is still the best character on television today. But main characters aside, Deadwood gets it as far as developing personalities for the minor characters. It's little details like that which go a long, long way in developing a realism within the confines of a television program.

Other shows I'm watching: 24 on Fox, which continues to be great, despite some flaws (i.e. Edgar's mom dies, which upsets him for all of one episode... and then it's back to business!); The Contender on NBC, which did poorly in its first episode in the ratings but which was a very compelling 90 minutes of TV on Monday (it will hopefully do better in its scheduled Sunday night slot); The Amazing Race 7 on CBS, where Rob & Amber are using Survivor-like sneaky tactics to get ahead (and I love it); Lost on ABC is the best show on free TV (and is right up there with Deadwood as my favorite overall, though it's not fair to compare in some ways since Deadwood gets to play by different rules); Survivor is great as always on CBS, and The Apprentice is in another interesting season on NBC. Throw in The Simpsons, Arrested Development and Desperate Housewives on Sunday night, and that's that.
