I thought it would be good to post something new on here, even if it is brief, as it's been ten days since my last column. Not that there is any set schedule with this, but I like to at least keep it semi-current. "Please the fans or they won't come back," so to speak.
Today was a discovery in how much of a pain in the ass the ticket business can be. I had attempted to sell my Bucs season tickets all at once, but that didn't quite pan out for me. I then tried to sell my tickets to the Bills/Bucs game at face value, and I got a guy who sent a PM (private message) saying he was looking to buy. We made plans to meet up at Raymond James Stadium. But when I got to outside of Gate D, I discovered that my cell phone was dead. It was inexplicable. I couldn't get the thing to turn on or anything. And the guy whose number I had was from New York, so I couldn't just go to a pay phone (if they even have those outside the stadium) to call him, not without paying a mint.
I decided to sell the tix to whomever I could, but it appeared to be a buyers market, even with the game sold out. I had someone offer me $100 for them, but I declined, still hoping that I could get face value. I wish I had taken the offer. Unfortunately my cell phone also doubles as my timekeeping device, so I didn't realize how close to gametime it was at that point. Some people from Buffalo were trying to grind me down on the price, and after holding out, I finally took their $80 offer. God, that sucked. At $71 face value per ticket, you can see that it didn't turn out so well for me. Write that one off to education, I suppose.
If there's any saving grace, it's that the Bucs won and moved to 2-0. Plus, I was able to watch the game in the comfort (and air conditioning) of my apartment. Hopefully success will breed interest in the team (and the tickets). Though as I hope to move down into better seating for next year, I don't want the Bucs to do *too* well and keep me up in the 300 level for next season.
My root canal went well (that was something else that kept me off of here... it's hard to write effectively when you're in physical pain). Dr. Ruiz did a good job with it, just as he did the time before.
Work lately has kept me super busy. This isn't the time for me to go into particulars, but I can say that good times are ahead. And there's something to be said for that...
