Yankees 6, Red Sox 5. Final/11 innings.
Game 7 of the 2003 ALCS will go down as one of the all-time greats. My brother Matt took the liberty of text messaging me when Boston lead 3-0. "Go Sox 3-0" it succinctly read. Later it was 4-1 Boston, then 5-2. But somehow, improbably, the Yankees clawed back, tied it at 5, and won it on an Aaron Boone home run in the bottom of the 11th. I called Matt after the game, only for him to abruptly tell me, "I don't want to talk about it" before hanging up. And he's an Orioles fan. Expect to read much, MUCH more in this space later on today.
Bill Simmons, I'm sorry buddy... but the Curse Of The Bambino lives on for another year. Yankees vs. Marlins, here we come.
