"There is no tomorrow"
-Comment overheard at Starbucks Coffee this morning

I found out this morning that I didn't get the researcher position at WTSP. While it's disappointing, perhaps this will be better for my career in the long run. We shall see.

This time tomorrow I'll be on a plane to Atlanta, where I'll connect with a second plane for Starkville, MS. Carli made a face yesterday when I told her I was going to Mississippi this weekend. She doesn't know what fun there is to be found in Starkville. I do, and I can't wait.

Will somebody please catch this Maryland Sniper person? Please? I nicknamed my fantasy football team the Snipers three years ago, as a tribute to the U.S. military and secret service workers who have nerves of steel, infinite patience, and pinpoint accuracy. Not bad attributes to emulate, no? But the senseless killing of people... it disgusts me. The teenage boy who was killed on Monday is my sister's age (13). Don't think that wasn't the first thing that crossed my mind when I got the news as I returned from Nashville.

Julie Hatala at work last night was telling me about these amazing deals she found at this one auction house in the area. I've got to get in on that; she managed to get some really nice stuff for her apartment at bargain basement rates. A leather couch for $75!?! I mean, that's unreal. I asked if she could get a Dodge Viper for $200. If they're handing out crazy bargains and all...

My trip to Nashville this weekend got me hooked again on playing The Sims, an amazing fun and realistic simulation of human life. Mary Beth (my sister) has a more souped-up version, but even the regular release is great fun...
