Raising The Stakes

Thursday
November 7, 2002

One day left in the work week, then the weekend arrives. I can deal with that.

The weather is cooling down here considerably. It's downright chilly right now. When I woke up tonight it was actually feeling cold in here. I closed the window, but with the sun down the temp is dropping more. Might have to actually turn on the heater at some point. Imagine that!

Election day turned out very well. Actually that's the day AFTER elections, but it was our election morning show. My experiences in the November 2000 election proved to be valuable in helping me plan how to do it this time around. Of course, this time I had like triple the staff I had in Huntington for support, which helped considerably.

It's been interesting to see the NBA season underway. The Knicks are horrid, yet they seem to be on TV every other night. Riley pointed out to me that, at least for this first week, NBA Season Pass is available for free. Nothing like seeing extra games I'd otherwise miss. Not that I have all the time in the world to watch it, though.

I wish I could pick up WKMG from Orlando here, if only to be able to see the syndicated Millionaire show at 7:30 PM. The 4:30 PM showing on WFTS falls too early for me normally. Again though, only so many hours in a day... I see on their affiliate list website that it's now the lead-in for ABC 25's 5 PM news. When I worked there, the lead-in was Rosie O'Donnell. Advantage: now.

Found out that the Cleveland job was filled before I had the chance to get in there. Too bad. With or without Gannett, I'll be off this overnight shift come April (barring something really unforseen). Though I like the company and would like to stay within. We'll see how things play out in the next few months (I'd love to say more, but I've probably already said too much).

Now that the election is over, does anyone miss those negative attack ads? Umm... I didn't think so.
