It only took four tries, but finally I finished my Mississippi State/Tennessee game on NCAA 2003 without it locking up. I won that one, and went on to beat Arkansas and Ole Miss. I'm unbeaten, with only an SEC Championship game with Florida waiting between me and a national title game with Nebraska (assuming they win their title game in the Big XII). When it works properly, that game is just an absolute blast.

In real-life NCAA sports, there's talk of the ACC expanding to bring in Miami and two others schools. Ultimately you need to follow the money, and note that the conference stands to make in the $10 million dollar range annually just by adding a conference title game (which having 12 teams would allow). This super-conference stuff is a bit over the top, but as always the dollar is king in college athletics.

There was some lively debate here at the station about women's golfer Annika Sorenstam's scheduled participation in The Colonial, which would mark the first time in 58 years that a woman has taken part in a PGA tour event. I think she'll get destroyed trying to hit from the black tees (it's just so hard to make up the distance, even for the #1 women's player in the world). But I commend her for trying, and I know that The Colonial has to be loving the free publicity that her sponsor's exemption entry is bringing to the tournament. However, I think she has absolutely no chance of making the cut. But we'll see.

Spurs/Lakers Game 6 and Kings/Mavericks Game 6 are both tonight. What a pair of great games. The Lakers will likely win tonight, with the home crowd behind them and their backs against the wall (down 3-2 in the series). Meanwhile Sacramento faces elimination on the road, as Dallas looks to knock the Webber-less Kings out of the tournament. I'll be pulling for Sac-town; I really, really want to see those two teams go the full 7.

I think the front right tire on my Neon has a leak. I filled it up to the manufacturer's recommend 32 pounds per inch mark, but when I refilled it today it was down to 12. The walls are already worn on it, so it might be time to just replace it. Great, another expense...

Matrix Reloaded hits theatres nationwide today. It's definitely on my must-see list, though I might wait for the weekend crowds to die down first and catch it early next week. But I'm psyched for it...

I've been back on the amitriptalene the past couple of days to try and get over a recent series of headaches. They haven't been as bad as the brutal ones from last year (which also hit in early May -- maybe it's a seasonal thing?), but I could see them progressing toward last year's levels if not treated. Amitriptalene has some negative effects, like making you ravenously hungry and also giving a sleeping pill-style hangover effect the next morning (i.e. feeling tired till about lunchtime or so). But it sure beats a pounding, piercing headache...
