Enigmatic

Tuesday
May 13, 2003

I was plugging along nicely with today's column when my computer crashed. So I'm having to start from stratch. Damn technology.

Lunch and dinner today consisted of an "ultimate" Boar's Head sub from Publix. Man oh man, that was delicious. I bought a whole sub (as opposed to half), as it's much more cost-efficient that way. And it made for a perfect lunch-dinner double-header. They even wrapped it in two separate papers, which worked like a charm. I still love Subway, but Publix subs hold their own.

Here's something I don't get: buying a sub at Publix doesn't cost tax, but at Subway I do have to pay tax. Likewise, buying a Diet Vanilla Coke at a grocery store is sales tax-free in Florida, but I get charged 6 cents sales tax when I buy it at the Hess gas station down on Dale Mabry. What gives?

Tonight I got a full workout in at the gym (weights and Precor). It was great, hitting the Precor and watching the Kings and Mavericks play b-ball on TNT. Even had some bumpin' music from 93.3 FLZ on in the background.

My first test CD for Picklock Music went off to the distributor today to be duplicated. I'm very excited about this. I'm in the process of getting my business license, and soon I hope to be helping bands get on college and independent radio. It's sales and a business, but at the same time there's the excitement of legit helping musicians get ahead in their efforts.

I tried for like the fourth time today to play the Mississippi State vs. Tennessee game on my NCAA Football 2002 game... and it locked up with me leading 21-10 in the fourth quarter (and I had set a new record for the longest punt return in the game at the end of the first half). I cannot describe how frustrated this makes me. It's such a great game, yet the system keeps locking up. Arrrrrrrrrrgh. I might have to resolve myself to just play recruit mode and simulate out the seasons and wait for NCAA 2003 to come out...

Time to wrap this up and catch the second half of Dallas vs. Sacramento...
