Berardelli's Goodbye

Sunday
May 11, 2003

Jeff Berardelli had his going-away party last night at Whiskey Park in Tampa's Hyde Park district. It was a wonderful time, and a great chance to see some friends I hadn't seen in months. It's always nice to catch up with old friends. And I think it's the first time in a year and a half that Desi Capez, Scott Massey and I were in the same place at the same time (which is a shame, but it's the nature of the beast given our different schedules and geographic locations now).

I finally met former WTSP anchor Bill Logan last night for the first time. I've heard about this guy for the past two years, and it was interesting to finally meet him in person.

Whiskey Park has an upscale crowd, as you might expect in Hyde Park. There was a nice turnout for Jeff's goodbye; he was well-liked by the people who worked with him, and he will be a success at WCBS-TV in New York City. I wrote on his goodbye card that someday I'll be telling people that I knew him "way back when". And I believe that; he has network potential.

As if the evening wasn't fun enough, Game 3 of the Kings/Mavericks series turned into a double overtime thriller. Good conversation, great basketball, and a fun evening...
