Another Day In May

Idiot Fan: "Norman, congratulations on your win tonight."
Norman Smiley: "Well, actually I lost, but that’s okay."
-A conversation overheard outside of Tabu in Orlando last night

Orlando was a fun time last night. I wrote in-depth earlier today about the wrestling show I went to (for those of you who care). Beyond that, Gary and I had a fun time hitting the various bars and clubs and what not.

One very strange thing is that not one bar or club had beer on tap. Not a single one. There must be some local ordinance against it. I've never seen that before, though. Even the most ass-backward or bible belt areas allow beer on tap (that is, if alcohol sales are legal there). It was just very odd to walk into a bar and go up to the counter and not see anything on tap.

Icon was a fun place. It's a dance club down in the area, and there were some hot chicks there. The schoolgirls on ecstasy were especially fascinating to see. One girl in particular went the full route, complete with the hair in pigtails and the short skirt and the knee-high socks. Plus she was dancing like a maniac (and not quite in time to the music, if you know what I mean). It was an interesting mix of the glowstick crowd and the dance hall types and the chill out and drink types. Party 95.3 was broadcasting live from there, and whoever their DJ was did a fine job. I personally think Cox is missing the boat by not flipping 107.3 The Bay to that dance/rhythmic format here in Tampa, but that's their loss.

I didn't get to see any of the game, but I hear that the Lakers won last night's game against the Spurs in blowout fashion. You see now why I kept my mouth shut when it came to trash talking. They're still the three-time champs until someone knocks them off.

Time has flown by this afternoon; I'm off to Jeff Berardelli's goodbye party now...
