Saving (Not Savings)
Thursday
March 8, 2007
Tonight I finished reading John Sandford's The Fool's Run, which was one of the books Velvet suggested (and which I bought) during her visit last month. It was a simple enough read, without too many intricate sub-plots to bog me down. Velvet tells me that the next two in the series are better, and with the character development that went into the first book, I'm curious to see what the next two offer.
It's a big week for college basketball. It's not quite the insane scene that will be going on one week from today (opening weekend of the NCAA tourney) but there are good games going on all over the place. UCLA lost to Cal (which had a losing record going into the game), which I'm sure has Dustin in tears.
Daylight Saving Time (not "Savings" -- this isn't a bank account) goes into effect on Sunday, earlier than in years past. It's a change that was made as part of the Energy Policy Act of 2005. The entire concept of moving time seems strange to me, and I've never been a proponent of DST. The fact that some states recognize it and others don't can create confusion. There was a time when most of Indiana didn't recognize DST, but Evansville (where I lived) did. Confusing? You bet.
