Room Full Of Boxes

"Why do you come here
When you know it makes things hard for me?"
-Morrissey "Suedehead"
The front room of my apartment is quite a scene right now, as it is filled with large, empty boxes that I've brought home the past several days from the BTLS headquarters. We ordered a bunch of padded envelopes from Office Depot or Staples (I forget which one), and they came in this huge boxes. This has proved to be a "what great fortune" moment for me, as I needed to get some boxes to have for the packing process. It also helped out at work, as it meant space not taken up in the dumpster. It beat what I had to do in Huntington, going to liquor stores and supermarkets and begging for boxes, like I was a bum or something. Of course, I still have many of the boxes that I used when I moved down here, but I guess that's a sign of a little bit of the packrat in me.
Guys, if you're looking for an aphrodisiac, let it be known that you're moving. It seems to be a turn-on for women, which makes no sense, but you should know by now not to try making sense of these things. I experienced this phenomenon in Evansville and in Huntington... and again here in Tampa. I think of the Counting Crows song If I Could Give All My Love with that. "You've been fading day to day, I've been moving town to town." Part of the reason I got out of the TV news biz was because I hate moving, and I knew that if I stayed in TV news, I'd likely be moving every few years climbing the ladder. But I've made enough moves now to have seen how it plays out, and I tell you, it's very interesting to see how things change when you announce a pending move.
I heard so many negative things about last night's episode of The Sopranos that I was expecting total bunk. The dream sequence nonsense really has to go, but the episode had been run down so much to me that I actually enjoyed it. Plus, it looks like the scheming for who would be Tony's heir apparent teased in the promo for next week is going to be fun.
My incognito friend L1 has had a theory that the AJ Soprano character is gay. I hadn't picked up on that at all, but when Vito Spataforno was pushing so hard to drive AJ home from the hospital... it seemed to be some foreshadowing. Hmm. L1 writes some really interesting columns; besides Bill Simmons, her site is probably my favorite blog/column to read.
Just yesterday I wrote on a message board about how NBC had better not overexpose Deal Or No Deal by running it too much. Well, tonight NBC announced that this week, the show will run on Wednesday, along with Monday and Friday. Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it...
One interesting tidbit I found here: major conference schools who are 11 seeds have a .214 percentage of making the Sweet 16 (6/21). Not that it helps any now, but it's something to remember for when you're filling out your brackets next year...
