"You're not the only one with mixed emotions"
-Rolling Stones "Mixed Emotions"

I've been surprised by how many people have contacted me since I let it be known on here (and on my MySpace page) that I'm leaving Tampa to move to the Birmingham area to take a job with Adenus. I really appreciate it. Unfortunately it doesn't make the leaving process any easier, but it does make me feel appreciated. Sadly, it's by people who I'm about to leave, but that's how it goes.

Five years in Tampa... and it was a nice run. I'll need to write a recap column before I pack up my computer. The great thing about these columns is that the high spots were (mostly) saved on here. Maybe a Top 20 most memorable things to happen (that are publishable) would be in order.

Tonight I got an e-mail out of the blue from Melissa of last summer. Maybe I should start referring to women from my past with a year indicator, like they do with select Japanese pro wrestling moves (i.e. Tiger Driver '95), so as to avoid possible confusion with other women of the same name. Melissa '05 wanted to meet up with me in Tampa and have a couple of drinks and catch up on things with her. I wonder if she reads my columns on here? It's like I conjured her up or something with a reference in the 3/15 column. See, that's why I don't write about that sort of stuff in my commentaries.

I'm writing this from Nashville (so obviously drinks with Melissa '05 was out); today I flew up here and made it official as far as taking the job with Adenus was concerned. It was nice to see my parents and my sister, though I missed getting to see my brother (Matt) today. Why? I had a 6:40 AM flight to Nashville, but silly me thought that there wouldn't be many people travelling on a Saturday morning. Compacted with my sleep schedule not allowing for me to get to sleep until past midnight eastern... well nevermind the excuses, I showed up at the gate at 6:38, and the door was closed. The plane was still there, and all I had was a carry-on, but no dice for me. Instead they put me on the 6:55 AM to Birmingham (oh, the irony) that then travelled to Nashville. I envisioned a screenshot of The Amazing Race where they show two destination routes to the same final place. "The first group will fly direct to Nashville, while the second will have to connect through Birmingham." Because Matt was leaving before noon to go to Auburn to see John Pouncey fight tonight, and I had my meeting at 10 AM, I missed getting to see him today.

As it is now, I'm exhausted and heading to bed to get some sleep. I fly back to Tampa tomorrow night. It's a super short turnaround, but I have three days left with Bubba to finish up there... and then it's time for the transition from radio producer to business manager to begin.
