Congratulations to Sue Zelenko, who is leaving Channel 10 at the end of next month. She's getting married, and she wants to concentrate on her family life. Sue was always nice to me; you hear horror stories about TV news anchors and their egos, but luckily I never encountered very much of that in my time in that biz. Sue was always friendly and pleasant to work with, including the time I was field producing for her and Reggie Roundtree at a Bucs post-game show in the pouring rain at Raymond James Stadium in October 2001. In a situation where it would've been easy for them to be snappy, they both handled it like pros. I wish Sue the best.
CBS, ESPN et al, please, please do me a favor and don't talk about that stupid idea of reseeding the Final Four. The issue seems to come up every year, and I know that some talking head stiff who's out of coaching because he couldn't even make the NIT is going to be pushing that agenda. Please. The pod system is bad enough; the regionally named brackets make it worse. You start reseeding the finals, and you might as well have Vince Russo booking this thing (where Tubby Smith does a run-in, lays out Georgia Tech head coach Paul Hewitt, and somehow Kentucky gets back in the tournament).
I know that me writing this on here is going to make some people jump to conclusions... but I've been doing my best to learn everything I can about Sirius satellite radio. As much as I know (or at least like to think I know) about AM and FM radio, I was relatively clueless when it came to the equipment and setup of satellite radio. Besides my bro Matt getting XM satellite radio for Christmas, I haven't had much experience with the genre at all.
What I've learned is this: you can get Sirius (no pun intended, although the company name seems to force you into one at every turn) in your car and home for $149 (with a "Plug & Play" adapter that you can transfer from either place). If you want to spend some cash, you can get some really nice, elaborate setups (such as an in-car unit that serves as a conventional radio, CD/MP3 player, and Sirius receiver all in one). With the FCC and the federal government bullying radio owners into sanitizing broadcasts to ridiculous levels, satellite radio is where the real fun will go down.
