I love my DVR (Digital Video Recorder), but every now and then it doesn't work properly. Like tonight, where it got confused due to Forever Eden running at 9 PM Eastern. Problem: The Apprentice ran at 9 PM, and South Park at 9:30. Since it can't record three shows at once, it decided to record NONE of them in that situation. Lousy technology. Luckily I managed to fix it to not get the South Park rerun (at about the 9:10 mark), but still there should be a way to avoid things like that. But so it goes.
Speaking of The Apprentice, I ended up watching the replay of the recap episode over at Andrea's place last night (she fixed me dinner, which was really good). I like Amy to win it all, while Andrea thinks Kwame will take the victory. Personally I don't think Kwame has done enough to earn it, and while he might be savvy enough to have flown under the radar to this point, I think it'll catch up with him in the end. We shall see.
On the trip to Orlando last weekend, I spotted a car that had its owner's website address on its license plate, with "WWW." and ".COM" added in tacky stick-on lettering to either side of the plate on the car itself. That's a step below a "My kid beat up your honor student" bumper sticker in my book (at least that is witty and doesn't have that pandering self-promotional edge to it). But in the spirit of pandering self-promotion, here are a couple of fun fake signs that I created online (the first via churchsigngenerator.com and the second through acme.com/licensemaker):
I've also had fun in pulling swerves on people who link images directly from this site (stealing my bandwidth), as I've switched out the images for
DraftKing.com promo banners of the same size (and renamed the files slightly and adjusted the pages on here in which they appeared accordingly). Suddenly that uncleverly stolen pic of Jules Winnfield from Pulp Fiction turns into "Visit DraftKing.com". I don't mind people taking pics from here for their own fair use, but don't link it directly from here.
In a move that may or may not make a difference, I've tried playing around with the Google AdSense colors a bit on here. As much as I liked the white-on-white color scheme, having the light yellow background makes the AdSense ads stand out a little more. We'll see how it turns out. It's a delicate balance finding something that is attention-drawing while still looking good and matching the look of the site...
