The Edge

Wow, do I look like an idiot with my 2003 NCAA basketball picks. My selection to win it all, Mississippi State, lost in the first round last night. They're currently leading on the ESPN.com poll of who the biggest first round bust is.

But, with my bracket busted, I have the latitude to cheer for whomever I want. Gonzaga over Arizona? This time yesterday I would've recoiled, since I took Arizona to go to the finals, but with my chances of winning gone I'm not pulling for the 'Zags to work some March Madness magic.

Last night was fun meeting up with Riley and Todd for the first time in too long. Todd's ex-girlfriend was in town, so she came along as well. Made my first trip to Bahama Breeze, which seemed like a pretty nice place, if not a touch upscale. Somewhat similar to the Hyde Park vibe, maybe with a slightly less pretentious feel.

Riley made fun of me all night for drinking wine at the apartment party that went down earlier. Of course, he also makes fun of me for drinking cider and mixed drinks, but so it goes.

Highlight of the night was getting my ass grabbed by this cute girl who I later learned was named Cathy. That got me talking with her (she let me smack her ass in response; seems like a win-win to me). She supposedly had a boyfriend, who was conspicuous by his absence. Whatever, all fun in a good night.

Tonight should be good as well. Riley just called me not too long ago and made sure I was up for whatever craziness there is to be found tonight.

Time to put this column to bed and go watch some more basketball. And I'll say this, after ruining my picks by beating MSU, Butler had better beat Louisville tomorrow...
