Negotiation Tactics

It was an interesting day at work today. I had my first encounter with a rude GM on the phone, a guy who seemed to have an ax to grind with Clear Channel and who seemed intent on taking it out on me (despite the fact that I don't work for Clear Channel). But I also had some good conversations and filled in the blanks on a few markets.
The internet is a powerful thing. This website alone helped me get the job I have now. It allows me to communicate with anyone in the world interested in reading what I have to say. But it also comes into play in other ways. Like with Carrie, the girl I met through the speed dating thing. She decided she didn't want to date after all. But instead of pulling the old "I hope you're not mad at me" line, she instead said "I hope you don't trash me on your website." I'm serious.
I'll say this, at least Carrie was upfront. Though my experiences with her and Pauline showed me that women don't necessarily get any less indecisive as they get older. 'Nuff said.
Speaking of indecisive, even last night's sure bet didn't pan out. Thank goodness New Orleans is this weekend. Perfect timing.
One thing that escaped me until my friend Nimesh pointed it out on e-mail is that the SEC basketball tournament is also this weekend. Which might explain the crazy high cost on the hotel rooms. But between that, Spring Break, and the fact that we'll be in New Orleans... there should be plenty to do this weekend. Even though I've mentioned it on here, it's really sneaking up on me. I've been so focused on work lately that there hasn't been much of a chance to look ahead.
I'm not pleased about Georgia's decision to pull out of the SEC Tournament and the NCAA Tournament. I don't see how that helps anyone. Suspend the coach (with pay) if you must, but don't punish the players. If there's dues to be paid, pay them on down the line. Punishment sans conviction, if you ask me. Plus I'm not too pleased about missing out on the women from Athens, GA who now won't be coming to the Big Easy for the SEC tourney.
What's the deal with spam e-mails where they clone your user name? Do they think they're going to trick me into thinking I had really e-mailed myself? Or like where it's my name on some other server (like loupickney@mostlyrobot.com or whatever), what's up with that? After the first or second time, I'd think that most people would smart up to it. Maybe I'm wrong.
I'm entirely out of bread and milk in my apartment, and I'm damn near close to being out of water. Okay, I still have tap water, but Florida water doesn't taste all that good to me. Bottom line, I'll be hitting Publix tonight.
Of course, when you go grocery shopping before you leave town, you have to use some control, lest you buy things that subsequently go bad while you're gone...
