The Facts Are In
Sunday

It was a fun time in Nashville this weekend. Being close enough to have the option to drive up is nice. My brother Matt and his roommate Dustin had a fun party last night. It was a good time... even if Dustin and Snapper are FACTS (Fake Ass Connect Turbo Sluts.)
Unfortunately for me, muscle spasms in my neck hit at the worst time, striking during the day yesterday and becoming worse by nighttime. I finally tapped out to the pain and took my Baclofin, which works very well. The pain went away, but the drowsiness that accompanies it kicked in. It took this girl
Whitney blasting into the laundry room (where I had the air mattress set up) to wake me up. But at least that got me going to enjoy the rest of the party.

Funniest moment of the night: Snapper was doing a keg stand, Dustin and Whitney were holding him, and when Snap finally finished, instead of letting him down gently, Dustin and Whitney let go of him. He crashed to the deck like he had taken a back body drop. Wham, his hip slammed into the rain-soaked lumber. I was merely holding the spout for the pour, so I was exonerated, but it did allow me to laugh long and loud. THUMP. Grand opening, grand closing for the keg stands.
We had the MTV Jams Videos channel on quite a bit last night, which was notable as it was commercial free for all the time that I saw it. I suspect that MTV is feeling the pressure from other potential music video providers, and thus it has that channel out there... commercial free, at least for now. But much like HD radio, it can't stay without advertising forever.

Interest in World Cup soccer is strong. Dustin was all excited about Portugal, and I saw why today in their game against The Netherlands. Despite having about every call go against them, and having me root against them to spite Dustin, Portugal played well. But as Dustin put it, the shame of this is that the sport draws you in, gets you excited about soccer... and then it's four years before the next World Cup. That makes me wish even more than British premiere league football (soccer) was broadcast on a major sports network over here on a regular basis.
The funny observation of the day today was, during the realization by the guys in the main room that my gigantic head is too big for any hats (seriously... I have a huge head, no doubt because my massive brain needs extra room), it was mentioned that I closely resemble Texas Rangers outfielder Kevin Mench, who has a shaved head and who I'm told also has a big head. I've found several quips about it in searching for more info online. According to his Wikipedia entry, "The consensus around Major League Baseball is that he has the largest head in the game, size 8." I'm here to tell you that I have a fitted Yankees cap, size 8, that I received as a gift... and it's too small for me. But when he has a goatee there is some resemblence there, thus the pictures for comparison.
One nice thing about the travelling is that, with my Sirius radio, the drive doesn't seem nearly as long as it would otherwise. I remember those trips to and from Evansville that seemed to drag on and on... and that was 2½-3 hours. The Nashville-Alabaster trip is more like 3½ hours, but it flies by when Sirius is playing good music and/or there is good talk programming on the air.
