Housewarming
Saturday
June 24, 2006
My brother Matt is having a housewarming party today. He's had his house (in Smyrna, TN) for several months now, but this is an official, welcome people to the house type party. Should be fun.
It's supposed to work in two phases: Noon-6 PM will be family/famly friends, and 6 PM-??? will be other friends. Luckily I fall into both categories, so I'll get to enjoy both sides of it.
For a first home, Matt's house is really, really nice. Plus he has a pimped-out big HDTV with an XBOX 360, which makes visiting there all the more fun.
For fans of Big Brother (which Matt was, ironically enough, a semi-finalist to be on last season), there's an auto-voter program that you can use to vote ad nauseum from your computer. Is it fair? No. But it seems to work. Details here: BBVoter.com.
Germany beat Sweden in World Cup play just now, which was fun to watch on ABC. It reminds me of watching Ireland/Spain (via tape delay) on ABC four years ago here in Nashville. The knockout round is fun, for sure.
My sister Mary Beth is in Japan, and it has been fascinating to read her updates via her MySpace blog. She has written in-depth about a country that I've never visited, and because of what I've read it's helped me to learn a great deal about the area that she's in. Things have certainly changed since Harlaxton 1998.
