Razzle Dazzle

My boss, Bubba The Love Sponge, is pictured is in the latest issue of Playboy Magazine on a page on indecency in radio. The pic is his promo pic, and the page has excerpts from Bubba, Howard Stern, Elliot in DC, Oprah (the salad tossing show) and Bill O'Reilly and challenges the readers to guess which show had which segment. I knew a few months back that he'd be in there in some capacity, as Playboy contacted me about getting a photo to use in March or April. It's the July 2004 issue with Peta Wilson on the cover. It's not on newsstands yet, but subscribers (like me) are now receiving it in the mail.

Still no dice on the cell phone, as it turns out that the Sanyo model that I wanted before is no longer available. So I've picked another selection, a really high end model (the Sanyo VM-4500), which is a video camera phone. Not that I plan to be making mini-movies with it very often, but it's a loaded phone. And DigiQuest has a special connection with Sprint, so I'm hoping I'll be able to get what I want on the freebie tip. We shall see.

Right after I wrote that last paragraph, I found out that I will be receiving the VM-4500. As C. Montgomery Burns would say, excellent. I can't wait to try it out.

The hits are starting to roll in for my column on Arena Bowl XVII, last year's AFL Championship (where the Tampa Bay Storm beat the Arizona Rattlers in Tampa). Interestingly enough, my friend James' phone camera was used in taking the pictures on the field, and he has SprintPCS (though his camera phone quality isn't anywhere what I'll have with the VM-4500). My phone is supposed to take "VGA Quality" pictures, which I've discovered means 640 by 480 pixels. It can store as many as 31 of those. Not too shabby, eh? Of course, I imagine years down the road I'll look back on this and laugh at how pathetic the technology sounds, but at this moment in time it's a nice feature to have. If you want to know more, read this.

Pistons 3, Lakers 1, and I love it. Detroit won last night in a game that the Lakers could not afford to lose. After seeing Calgary and Tampa Bay duke it out in a seven game thriller of a series in the Stanley Cup Finals, it was obviously how badly both teams wanted the win. Whereas with the Lakers... it's not that they don't want to win, but they don't crave it like the Pistons do. Maybe Karl Malone does, but his game has deteriorated and his body is falling apart. Couldn't have happened to a more fitting person, if you ask me. And how about Malone having the veterans on the team allegedly turn against him (begging Phil Jackson to bench Malone in favor of Rick Fox, according to the Los Angeles Times), and the embarrassing poking incident that could land Malone behind bars for assault and battery. HAHAHAHAHA!
