Game 7 Mayhem
Monday
June 9, 2003
Well, here we are. Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals, Ducks vs. Devils. In sports, it's hard to get much better than this. The last Game 7 also involved the Devils, who lost at Colorado two years ago. This time they'll be on home ice, and the smart money is on New Jersey and goalie Martin Brodeur. All signs point to a New Jersey win... though the last time the home team won the first six games of the Stanley Cup Finals, the road team won Game 7 (Montreal in 1971). But still, my money would be on NJ, if I were betting on it (and I'm not).
Katt from 98 Rock/Thunder 103.5 encouraged me to come to the Neil Young (not to be confused with Neal Diamond) concert at the
St. Pete Times Forum tonight. I had free tickets via the station, and actually did contemplate going, but in the end I couldn't pass up watching Game 7. No way. Plus I called some friends last minute-style and they couldn't make it, either, which ended up sealing the deal for me. Though it would've been cool seeing Neil Young in concert (even if he didn't sing "Sweet Caroline").
Some people have been questioning how I get my information about certain things that I write about on here. Which I find somewhat amusing, given that my website has a relatively limited audience compared with the vast reach of my current employer's medium of choice. That is to say, I wouldn't recommend those who question and badger others about this space provoking me into upping the ante. Not at all. As for sources, what can I say: when the truth is all around you, and the evidence overwhelming, and the witnesses many, and the means of communication open, who is anyone to stop its spread?
I've been watching some of the season one box set of
The Sopranos that my parents got me for Christmas. I've watched the first four so far, and I was surprised to learn that I'd actually seen quite a bit of those episodes (in replays on HBO and what not). But still it was nice to see them in sequential order and what not. I tell you, that show is pure genius. It's miles ahead of most everything else out there (particularly Season 2, which is my favorite of the lot so far)...
