First of all, I want to wish the best of luck to Big Rig from 98 Rock. Today was his last day on-air at the station, though he'll remain on board doing voicetracking for stations outside the market and webmaster work for 98 Rock and Thunder 103.5.

Telemarketing
The national Do Not Call list promises to reduce those awful telemarketing calls.
In one of the few outstanding things to come from the federal government this year, the national Do Not Call list is in effect. Hate those god-awful telemarketer calls? Well now you can do something about it, without having to shell out any money. Go to donotcall.gov and sign up today. By October 1, you should be freed from the vast majority of telemarketer calls. It's about time they came through with this.

Former U.S. Senator Strom Thurmond passed away last night. Scott Massey quipped that he died when he found out that the Supreme Court found the Texas law against sodomy unconstitutional. Think what you will about the late Mr. Thurmond, but he was an undeniable force in the Senate for decades.

True story: a relative of my friend Brian Kargus had the chance to have an audience with Senator Thurmond a few years ago. He heard Thurmond say that when he died, they were going to have to use a baseball bat to knock down his hard-on and get him in his casket. I'm not quite sure why Senator Thurmond said that, but I give him credit for his brazenness...
