Mixing It Up

Monday
June 2, 2003

Work today was a big game of catch-up in many ways, as I sifted through voice mails like a madman. But I did manage to ship out a bunch of promo packs to go along with that work. It's another day in the game, with good times looking likely on the horizon.

Hitting the grocery store today is a must. Out of bread, out of milk, and damn near out of cereal... except for one mostly uneaten box of "Brown Sugar and Oat" Total, which isn't a particularly appetizing choice. Plus I need more Propel water.

My first issue of College Music Journal Weekly arrived while I was gone to Nashville. It's a fun read, with some topical articles to go with the massive collection of information on the inside. In a related note, I hope to get the first batch of CDs for Picklock Music mailed out this week.

The first of the month means I get to see some interesting search strings on the site... Here's a look at some of the more interesting from the list: 2004 nfl mock draft, att call collect ad girl, bachelor party saint louis, changing mp3 song title, coors light commercial rock you like a hurricane, john feinstein agassi, len clark radio, lost the bet, official website for 99 rocks in shreveport louisiana. How these particular strings lead to me is unclear, but it's interesting to see what is bringing in the hits.

There's quite a bit of NHL trash talk going on around the office. My friend Marissa was steamed about a cut-away shot in Saturday's Ducks/Devils game that showed actor Emilio Estevez laughing after a freak goal went in off Devils goalie Martin Brodeur. Maybe if the Devils win the cup, ESPN Classic can let Brodeur extract revenge by giving a Mystery Science Theatre 3000-style running commentary about one of Estevez's movies, like Another Stakeout or Men At Work.

The talk about Estevez lead to ideas of using him as a mascot of sorts. Or a reverse mascot, like an intermission contest where one lucky fan tries to hit a cardboard cutout of Estevez in the junk with a slapshot. Who wouldn't enjoy that?
