Congratulations are in order for the New Jersey Devils. They earned the right to hoist the Stanley Cup as the champions of the NHL, outlasting the Ducks in seven games to earn the right to hoist Lord Stanley's trophy high in the air. And speaking of the Stanley Cup, aren't they going to run out of room on it eventually? They already have 100+ years worth of names on there. Even with fine print, that's going to be a challenge to maintain.

But, space for names aside, I don't think there's a cooler championship trophy in sports. The NFL's Lombardi Trophy looks nice, as does the glass egg looking NCAA I-A Football championship trophy, but neither has the history nor the name recognition value as the Stanley Cup.

Tonight is a rare off night for the run of championship games, with the NHL season now finished and the NBA Finals not picking back up until tomorrow night. And with TV in summer rerun doldrums, it looks like it's time to break out the DVDs. Maybe watch some more of The Sopranos, Season One. Though the Hillary Clinton on CNN vs. Juanita Broaddrick on Fox News Channel showdown at 9 PM Eastern tonight should be interesting.

Speaking of Hillary Clinton, my friend Scott Massey and I had a bit of a dispute last week about the former first lady. I personally don't care for her at all, and I find her big government policies and support for the erosion of individual liberties to be abhorrent. The fact that she ran for the U.S. Senate in New York, and not her home state of Arkansas, is laughable. That she won is pathetic.

But, I'll say this about Hillary -- she's shrewd, calculating and intelligent. She knows exactly how to play the game. And she does it about as well as anyone, and is perhaps outshined only by her husband. There's a distinct chance that the Clintons will overshadow the Democratic contenders lining up for a crack at George W. Bush in 2004, taking away valuable air time and media coverage.

Speaking of people named Hillary, there was a Hillary of another sorts here at the Clear Channel Tampa complex today: Hilary Duff, the actress who plays the role of Lizzie McGuire for the Disney show (and movie) of the same name. One of the CC employees brought his young daughter in, and she was all excited about getting her picture taken with the teenage star. That was entertaining to see, in a cute sort of way.

There's a Toyota car commercial in regular rotation on network TV that features a guy driving like a maniac on a wide-open Los Angeles highway. At the bottom of the screen that a disclaimer that Toyota "does not condone" that type of driving. Right, you don't condone it, yet you spent how many hundreds of thousands of dollars on the ad? Exactly...
