Another Look

Wednesday
June 26, 2002

Today was better. Much better. Night and day difference. Very nice.

As I type this, Brazil is beating Turkey. Granted, there's 18 or so minutes to go... but it looks like a possible Brazil/Germany finals matchup. Which would be very cool.

Funny thing... In looking at my latest visitors, I ran across a hit with a very unusual looking referrer. I clicked on the page, and it was my October 2000 commentary translated into Spanish. Turns out someone in Spain (I could tell by cross-referencing the IP address) found my site. Multi-lingual inspiration.

The big trip to St. Louis is tomorrow. It's sneaking up on me. Need to hit the bank before I go. And pay my rent and what not.

Big props to my friend Scott Massey for hooking me up with the FIFA 2002 PS2 game. Poor Scott found out the hard way that Kay Bee Toys' no return policy is strict. Bummer. Though I've been there before. A bit of advice -- if you're going to buy a game, do some research on it on the internet first. I learned that the hard way a few times back in the day. I remember once in the late 80s buying this horrible NBA basketball game for the IBM PC. It was statistics-driven, but there was no GAMING to it. It was like WhatIfSports.com, only with some poor animation thrown in on an EGA-compatable monitor. For those of you not in the know, the magic of color monitors in the 1980s went from CGA to EGA to VGA to I think SVGA. In some cases, technological advances are a very good thing. This is one of those cases.

Need to do some packing now for St. Louis. May do a commentary tomorrow, time permitting. Otherwise, catcha on the flip side of the trip.
