Nashville Arrival

Friday
June 14, 2002

I woke up this morning at 7:30 AM. This after going to sleep at 4 AM. Ouch. But my reasons for that were twofold -- to watch the U.S./Poland World Cup soccer game, and to be sure I was up in time to make my flight. So I woke up.. then promptly fell asleep on the couch. I woke up a moment later... and just 8 minutes into the game, the U.S. was down 2-0. Ouch. More sleep, then time to get ready to leave. That's what I get for staying out so late at Red Dog last night. But it was worth it.

Poland beat the United States 3-1, unfortunately. But, with South Korea beating Portugal, that allowed the U.S. to advance to the round of 16. Up next -- Mexico. Should be a classic showdown. The U.S. beat Mexico back in last year's qualifying play. Keep in mind that the U.S. has never advanced past the round of 16. Is this their year? We shall see...

I'm writing this at my parents' house in Nashville. Their cable modem is fast, perhaps even faster than my DSL is in Tampa. But this keyboard is getting on my nerves, as the space key seems to work only when it wants. Granted, it's not as bad as the god-awful keyboards we have at WTSP (like on my computer, where you have to press very hard to get the Z key to work, and where many of the letters have literally worn away off the keys over time). But I digress.

The flight up here went surprisingly well. It was nice to not have to connect through Atlanta (like I would've with Delta).

Tonight I believe my bro Matt, Slick, me and who knows who else will be hitting the Blue Bird Cafe. Should be a good time...
