Alasondro Alegré As "The Chief"

Tuesday
July 23, 2002

"I will grab a sword like Maximus Meridius Demidius and as a gladiator I will stab people in the crotch"
-Rep. James Traficant

I saw that Traficant quote in a script at work last night, and I felt compelled to share it with you here. Could you imagine if other politicians were as blunt and unrefined in their flippant comments as Traficant sometimes is? It'd make for some high comedy on Capitol Hill, for sure.

Finally found a good (free) program that lets me capture pictures from computer screen images. I've managed to make .jpg of both F.F. Woodycooks (from a memorable episode of Mr. Show) and Alasondro Alegré as "The Chief" (from the all-time classic Beastie Boys video "Sabotage"). My bro Matt seemed to really appreciate the Alasondro Alegré pic, which I e-mailed to him this morning. Anyway, the program is called MW Snap. It's freeware -- I found it via ed3k.com. It's also available directly as a .zip file -- you can download it now by clicking here.

Two days, and two good newscasts so far this week. Nice energy, great anchor interaction, and dare I say quite a bit of fun, both on-air and in the booth.

I hear I missed a pretty good episode of WWE Raw last night (and yes, I cringe as I write "WWE" -- that name just resonates with such a negative tone to me). Stupid World Wildlife Fund. I wonder if maybe they would've been more effective in changing the WWF name to WWFe or something like that to stay closer to the old name. Oh well, too late now. Stupid British court ruling...

Counting Crows were on David Letterman (and Last Call) recently, and now comes word from annabegins.com that they'll be playing the Tonight Show on August 2nd. Glad to see them get the big push. I'm listening to Hard Candy right now. It's an excellent CD.

NFL training camp news is starting to heat up -- picks signing last minute deals, competitions for jobs beginning, etc. Steve Spurrier will keep things interesting for the Redskins, I'm sure...
