Here we are, the day before Super Bowl XXXVIII. Exciting times, indeed, these are. Though the February-March post NFL blues will set in at that point, where football fans will be starved for action until the first scrimmages and exhibitions of August. And that's many months away.

But first things first. I'd love to see the Panthers win. I really would. But the Patriots just look too strong. They used precision playcalling and smart adjusting to beat the Titans and Colts (which in my mind were two excellent teams) in consecutive weeks. Maybe I'm drinking the Bill Simmons punch on this one, but I say the Patriots will beat a 7 point spread. And if you're betting, take the over -- look for 40 or more to be scored in this game. New England 31, Carolina 17.

I'm not sure that there's much more to add to the Bubba The Love Sponge FCC fine. If you don't like his show and/or find it offensive, change the station. If you don't want your kids listening, then provide them with proper adult supervision, as you should, and make sure that they don't. Radio is not a babysitter. End of story.

Tonight I watched the movie XXX, which had some terrific special effects. The plot had a Scorpion King level of holes and stretches, but overall it was a fun movie. I'm really enjoying being able to use my DVR to watch movies that I might not take the time to go rent, and that I'd not particularly want to own, but that I would like to see once...
