"The drama of letters and words is the greatest drama."
-Matt Drudge

"Accomplishing the impossible means only that the boss will add it to your regular duties."
-Doug Larson

It's a four day weekend for me, and it's one that is coming at a most needed time. A nice break from the madness.

It should be entertaining to see Yao Ming compete in the NBA Rookie/Sophomore game during the All-Star weekend. That guy is something special. Plus the opportunity for unintentional comedy should be sky-high.

Meanwhile, as if baseball couldn't get more screwed up, the MLB owners decided that the winning side of the All-Star Game gets homefield advantage in the World Series. Did Bud Selig secretly hire Vince Russo as a consultant? The game itself is treated more as an exhibition than anything else, so to put something as critical as home field advantage on the line seems ridiculous. Why not just give it to the team with the best regular season record? Or keep it the way it's been since 1903? You mean to tell me that in a sport with such a competitive imbalance, this is the best rule change they can come up with? Please.

Of course, at the same time I do feel some sympathy for Bud Selig. The guy gets beaten up in the media all the time. And you'd have to think that if he could shift MLB to a system like the NFL has, he would. But the players' union is strong, and the big-market owners aren't willing to give very much. And Selig doesn't get the credit he deserves for helping to avoid a potentially crippling strike last August.

Bucs' playoff fever is at a high level here in Tampa. I had a live shot, a PKG and a few VO's all about the Bucs in my 5:30 news block this morning. Tremendous stuff there. If the Bucs can somehow beat Philly and make the Super Bowl..... wow.

Luckily, I have the next two Mondays off from work. Plenty of time to adjust my sleep schedule to enjoy the games in their entirety.
