Ready for the Road

"And I'll sit and wonder
Of every love that could've been
If I'd only thought of something charming to say"
-Death Cab For Cutie "The Sound of Settling"

In a few short hours, I'll be on the road to Memphis with my bro Matt. We're heading to the Liberty Bowl, which will be my first bowl game to attend since January 1998. In that case, it was the Orange Bowl: Tennessee vs. Nebraska. I went down to Miami with three Nebraska fans (my friends Lance, Chad, and Kenny from WEHT), had my one and only experience with a South Florida strip club (very nice), and proceeded to see Nebraska destroy UT. As if Miami to Evansville isn't a long enough drive, I had to hear about it the entire way back.

These are the risks we take in life.

This weekend I'll be among like-minded company, as Mississippi State is taking on UCF. It's a business trip for me in that it will be quite useful to attend the game for Draft King, but then again what some do for pleasure I do for money.

Earlier this month I went to my first Predators game since moving back to Nashville. That was a blast. My cousin Donald hooked me up with the ticket, and we had a great view of the action. Unfortunately Vancouver won, but it was a fun time nonetheless.

I've been poor about keeping up with my writing, and I'd love to write more, but it's time to pack up and get ready for Memphis. Perhaps I'll see you at Pat O's on Saturday night...
