Lou Pickney's Online Commentary

Holiday Headway

Friday
December 17, 2004

I began my Christmas season shopping last night via Amazon.com, and I ordered several items... which I had sent to me by way of my parents house. I'm heading to Nashville on Monday for a long-awaited vacation, but I knew that I need to have the order sent to Nashville so that I would actually have the merchandise in hand before I left.

The Sims 2 is a game that continues to hold my interest. It can be interesting to throw some soap opera twists at them and see how they react. For example, I created the Jolt brothers, and I had one of the chicks hook up with them both. Then Bryce Jolt married her... but he caught Bud Jolt kissing her and had a major falling out with her over it. Good times.

Things with Bubba The Love Sponge are going well, but it's a waiting game right now. Patience, for now. Patience.

The hits are really rolling in now for DraftKing.com. Well, the 2005 NFL Draft isn't too far away I guess. The angry e-mails are also coming in, too, which is part of the fun as well. If I had accurately predicted the 2004 Draft ahead of time... then there would have been a whole host of livid people in disbelief. The reason? Often times things happen that don't make much sense. And when it comes to predicting for someone's favorite team, when you make a prediction that they don't like... well lookout. But I do enjoy the têt-a-têt with the angry e-mail and then my chance to respond.

The great thing? It's all opinion and conjecture, at least leading up to the draft. You and I might disagree about who Dallas will pick in the first round... but then there's the ultimate payoff of the draft itself to settle it. It's not like "In college football, would the 1998 Tennessee Vols beat the 2002 Ohio State Buckeyes?" where you could argue it ad nauseum but never have a clean-cut answer...
