Restlessness

Wednesday
December 3, 2003

I watched the new ABC show Line Of Fire last night. It was a good show, with some compelling storytelling elements about the FBI and organized crime done within the confines of network television standards. And while the Mafia boss looks more like an extra from Quiz Show than a mafiaoso gangsta, maybe that was the point. We've already seen everything from The Sopranos to Goodfellas to Casino. While the show did have its awkward moments of dialogue (like between the two FBI academy cadets), it kept a fast pace and did enough to make me want to check out next week's episode. This is the timeslot (10/9 Central on Tuesday nights) where CBS *should* have put The Handler.

Mick Foley
Could we soon see Mick Foley portraying a Tampa police detective on TV?

Book it for Nashville over Christmas, December 24-29. I can't wait. That will include going to the Bucs/Titans game at the Coliseum on Dec. 28. Dad traded the family's two tickets for this weekend's Titans/Colts game with the Karg Family (which has two seats next to us) in exchange for Bucs game tickets. That means four of us will get to go to the 12/28 game. Should be great.

Mick Foley is rumored to be working on a TV pilot where he would play a Tampa police detective. Now that would be entertaining. A television series based in Tampa is long overdue.

Speaking of Foley, I read that he returned this past Monday night to WWE as the "co-commissioner" of Raw. WWE's programming has gotten so bad that I have by and large quit watching in the past year or so, but I've read that it has improved of late (and that Foley in particular was excellent on Monday). I quit watching because of (in this order): 1. the overhyping/overpushing of the McMahon family and HHH; 2. really bad skits, bad angles, bad writing and bad acting; 3. poor overall quality of wrestling (not necessarily the workers' fault, but if that's what the promoters tell you to do in the ring, what can you do?) I may need to give WWE another chance to see if those three things have changed any as of late...
