Narrow Lead

Monday
December 22, 2003

It's high drama for Fantasy Bowl XII, as I'm up by just 17 going into tonight's Packers/Raiders game. My players are finished, while Nimesh has the unlikely trio of Charlie Garner, Javon Walker and Sebastian Janikowski ready to go. Denver managed to keep Manning and Harrison in check last night... We'll see how this one plays out.

Scott Layden
The Knicks have relieved Scott Layden of his general manager duties.

In an impromptu shopping journey, I headed up I-4 to Lakeland and Orlando to hit some stores. I racked up some nice stuff, both in the Christmas shopping department and in the clothes for myself arena. There was this place called the "Supermarket of Shoes" in Orlando that I found with about five minutes to go before closing time. As if on a PAX TV game show, I raced again the clock finding some really good bargains. Brand name shoes at great prices and actually in my size (14), which is all too rare of a trio to hit. Unfortunately I hit some brutal traffic getting out of there, but this is the holiday season...

Maybe I'm alone on this, but it seems when a pending trip is coming that it can really sneak up on you time-wise. That is to say, before you know it the trip is there. I fly out for Nashville on Wednesday morning, which should be a great time. It'll be nice to be back home.

My apartment is a mess again. Well, not as bad as before, but my bedroom needs some cleaning up. Maybe tonight, maybe tomorrow. Maybe next week. Procrastination blase.

The New York Knicks finally smarted up and fired Scott Layden as GM, which was about two years too late. I'm not sure how Isiah Thomas will do in the role, as he keeps talking about wanting to get back into coaching, but it seems that there's nowhere to go but up from how that franchise has run into bust after bust since appearing in the 1999 NBA Finals (which is the point when Layden came into power there).
