"It's murder on the dance floor
But you better not steal the moves
DJ gonna burn this goddamn house right down
Oh, I know I know I know I know I know I know
I know there may be others..."
-Sophie Ellis Bexton "Murder On The Dance Floor"

Well, it appears that I may be moving up a few spots on the Tampa Bay Bucs season ticket waiting list following today's embarrassing home loss to the Atlanta Falcons. 7-8, ouch. It's tough to stay on top in the NFL.

Secret Hustler
I think this shirt belongs to Ed McCaffrey.

Oh, the ironic turns that can happen... You might recall that this past August, I chronicled on this webpage how Nimesh Patel had mocked me for a trade offer that would've involved him landing Panthers RB DeShaun Foster, comparing that with my unsuccessful attempts to trade Ricky Watters in 2002. This week Nimesh and I are meeting in Fantasy Bowl XII, our fantasy football league's championship game. And... Stephen Davis is out hurt this week (along with Clinton Portis, who Nimesh held out of the lineup to be on the safe side). Now it could all work out for Nimesh if Charlie Garner goes crazy for Oakland tomorrow... but I'm glad that things worked out like they did and he didn't get Foster.

It's also worth mentioning that I'm playing the consolation game this week in my Orlando fantasy league game. I don't talk about them on here much, mostly out of respect for the keeper league I'm in that I've been in for a decade. But it is fun to be part of other leagues, where you might have the opportunity to actually have a player you might never have a chance at (like Randy Moss) in the 3FL Keeper League. But what hurts is that the reason I'm not in the Orlando championship is because I stupidly risked it all and started Steve McNair over Jon Kitna. McNair sat, I lost, and Kitna would've given me enough for the win. And yes, I'm still mad about it...

Santa Claus
How's this for big name product endorsement?

Two interesting court rulings came down this week... First is a circuit appeals court (one rung down from the Supreme Court) decision that the RIAA (the record industry) cannot subpoena internet providers without a court order. This should (hopefully) put an end to one of the many abuses being enacted under the name of the DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act).

Second is the ruling by Holland's supreme court that Kazaa is not liable for the actions of people who use the service to exchange copyrighted material. While this does not exonerate those who fileshare, it does give Kazaa the same protection as photocopying companies and e-mail providers when it comes to not having to play the role of law enforcer when it comes to enforcing the copyrights of others.

Toys For Tits 8 was, to be sure, one adventure of a morning yesterday. By the end of the event, we had a huge stack of toys that will all go to help brighten the Christmas mornings of children in need all across the Tampa Bay area. It's a great concept, and one that has upside for all involved. The event was well documented (as the Mighty Mighty Bosstones would say, "I have the pictures to prove it.") Now the show goes into vacation mode for two weeks (though I will still be working, probably more busy than normal in helping with behind the scenes coordination in preparing for 2004).

Toys For Tits
This is a look at just some of the many gifts generously donated at Toys For Tits 8.

I worked for awhile this afternoon, first doing some research on internet shopping carts (looking for ways to improve our options for BubbaArmy.com and then going into DigiQuest to mail out package orders that came in Friday night and today through 6 PM. I hope this will make the difference in at least some packages making it before Christmas that might not have otherwise.

But let me tell you... I-275 South is a beast around the Dale Mabry exit, even with a Bucs game going on. I didn't get down there until late in the game, so I caught some of the early traffic leaving (with the Falcons up 16 with three minutes to go) in conjunction with the crazy holiday shopping traffic. Not quite what I had planned.

The post office was a zoo. The line stretched as long as I had ever seen it, way way back, a good 75-80 people minimum in front of me. I didn't need to pay for any postage, since I had paid for it all online, but with packages you have to actually take them to the counter. Normally the small business office is where I can drop them off, but it's not open on the weekend. I figured I had a long, long wait ahead of me... when a postal employee happened to walk by and notice that my top packages were all affixed with pre-paid labels. "Are those all pre-paid?" he asked. I said yes, and he said he could take them for me. What a life-saver! That probably saved me a good 30-40 minutes in line (no exaggeration... nearly everyone in front of me had at least one, if not multiple, packages to be paid for and mailed). So thanks to whoever that guy at the post office was who saved me on that...
