Website Workings

Monday
August 30, 2004

I've temporarily turned off the setting on my site that directed all "file not found" entries to my main LouPickney.com page. The reason: Google, Yahoo! and the other big search engines weren't removing the old .html entries from their cache (I changed my format from .html to .shtml to allow for server side includes earlier this year). Ideally a dead link would take someone to my main page (as opposed to a dead page listing, which would in all likelihood equate to a lost visitor), but I will have to bite the bullet on that for the time being to get the dead pages cleared out from the search engines. This might come across as gibberish to some of you, but long story short, it'll be better for the site in the long run.

Tomorrow is election day in Florida, so if you're registered then go vote! Bubba won't be on the ballot until the November general election, so we don't have any election day stuff directly involving him (though at least one TV station in the area has requested an interview with him). I switched my party affiliation to Libertarian earlier this summer, but in this case it won't matter much since this election will allow me to vote for non-partisian positions (like judges).

Tonight should be an interesting matchup (especially by pre-season standards) as the Titans travel to Dallas to face the Cowboys. Eddie George vs. his old team, Testaverde in a starting role, Chris Brown with another chance to make me look smart (from drafting him with the last pick in the 2003 draft in my keeper league)... should be nice.
