"Can you believe he thinks that I am really alive?"
-Everclear "I Will Buy You A New Life"
The apartment is much cleaner now, at least the front room. Night-and-day difference, to be sure. The back room is still a mess, but it's next on the agenda.
My Mom gave me the business tonight about the part in yesterday's column about the apartment cleaning. "People all over the world can read that," she said. And she's right, they can. And I appreciate her concern about me not writing something that could come back to bite me. But like I told her, I decided a long time ago that I was going to write what I feel and not hold back for fear of what others thought.
So I'm serving notice right now, if you're the type who might be offended, or if you want to bury your head in the sand and live in a PG-rated world, then by god feel free to do that. But realize that you might not get that from this website, or from me. The realist in me won't allow sugar-coating. And on the flip side, I've gotten heat over not telling enough about things (like my 2002 New Orleans trip, for example). You can't win when it comes to pleasing everyone.
Besides, I was just relaying what the girl said. It was a funny situation, and to water it down would be ripping off my readers. If you don't like it, then perhaps Disney.com is more you speed. Capeche?
Though, to be sure, I certainly know when to use discretion about certain things. As it is I limit what I write about my personal life on here, as well as my business dealings. Carl Harris from 98 Rock jokingly said "This better not be on LouPickney.com" regarding a certain meeting on Friday. I assured him, as I do everyone else, that I would not betray the confidence of those who are willing to speak frankly in my presence. This is not some sort of an unfiltered blog, but it's refined entertainment. At least that's the attempt.
The FFL 2003 summer redraft is tonight. It's going to be done conference-call style, which should be fun. We're entering Year 5 of the keeper league format, and it will be interesting to see how it all plays out. We finally expanded the draft to 5 rounds this year, which is something I've been pushing for now for some time.
Scott Massey asked me if you could set the merchandise prices ridiculously high in the forthcoming Madden 2004 game. I imagine so; have you seen how expensive some of that "officially licensed merchandise" is? And if it's in the game...
