Crazy Joakim

Tuesday
April 3, 2007

Congratulations to Florida for winning their second straight basketball national championship last night. I knew that this meant we'd hear from Joakim Noah, who is solid gold on the mic. He reminds me a bit of pro wrestler Konnan cutting a promo, only Noah isn't saying things to "draw heat" -- he's speaking his mind.

Here's the transcript of his post-Championship interview, courtesy of the Awful Announcing website:

"I mean, this is what it's all about. I mean, we worked so hard for this, you know what I'm saying? So yeah, we gonna do it big! All day, all night, do it huge, you guys have no idea what I'm talkin' about when I'm saying that, but but my boys know! The Gator boys know what I'm talkin' about! Gainesvile know what I'm talkin' about!"

I think I know what Noah's talking about.

Noah's best rant was after Florida beat Purdue in round two when he started complaining on national television about the Gators not being respected (I halfway expected to hear him start with "Yo yo yo let me speak on this.") No dice on finding that clip online, but check out what he said after Florida's national championship win over UCLA last year, from the Orlando Sentinel:

During the national-title game against UCLA, Noah flirted with a few Bruins cheerleaders -- winking at them once, blowing kisses another time.

"They were just talking crazy to me, like, 'You're so uggggly,'" Noah said afterward. "Man, that was cold. I mean, it hurts when you have so many beautiful girls telling you how ugly you are and stuff."

Now that's entertainment.
